Parkinson’s disease symptoms

Parkinson’s disease symptoms or problems of age?

Parkinson’s disease was recognized in 1817 thanks to Dr. James Parkinson, who was the first who pointed out the importance of its research. From that moment it became a separate disease and researchers began to look for the ways of treatment and opportunities to get rid of Parkinson’s disease symptoms.

The signs of the disease are the following ones:

  • tremors of limbs
  • stiffness of limbs
  • stiffness of body
  • sluggishness in movements
  • balance problems

The signs were evident but doctors were not aware of the cause that provoked symptoms. The reason for it was discovered in the 50-s of the last century. The lack of dopamine is to blame for it. It brings to Parkinson’s disease symptoms.

Much time has passed from this discovery and during all this period Parkinson’s disease symptoms have been studied to provide sufferers with the newest ways of Parkinsons disease treatment.

It must be noted that it is necessary to start taking the required medications in time. They are available nowadays though there is no cure from Parkinson’s and the medications are taken just to thwart the development of the disorder. If you do not have treatment course in time, the condition will deteriorate much faster. But there is a problem here: it is not so easy to determine Parkinson’s disease symptoms and the person does not have a notion about his serious diagnosis.

How to recognize Parkinson’s disease symptoms

Parkinson’s disease symptoms in menUsually people start noticing that something is wrong with them but they do not ascribe it to some serious condition in the beginning. Clear understanding of the necessity to diagnose the problem comes much later when big discomfort is in the way of simple actions we face daily. For instance, shaking, which is hard to control. It is hard to write and even to walk.

All movements of the person becomes slow and it takes pain to do things that he could do without effort previously. Patients with Parkinson’s disease symptoms are always slow. This is their characteristic feature.

Balance problems come out as well and patients may not even notice doors on the way, door frames and etc. The whole body is rigid, but this characteristic is usual for a number of other less serious diseases.

The shuffle walk is observed and it is not easy to raise legs to avoid that. Such patients also have facial problems and look emotionless. You may notice “unblinking stare” when you try to communicate with people who are diagnosed with the disease. This can also be considered one of the Parkinson’s disease symptoms.

When patients develop problems they mistakenly consider:

  • that this is an age-relating problem and the body just changes with age therefore stiffness and rigidity appears;
  • some people consider that they develop arthritis when they notice Parkinson’s disease symptoms.

Parkinson's patients can be recognized by their look: stooped or hunched. Still those who did not know anything about Parkinson’s disease symptoms find it hard to determine what is actually happening. As a rule such patients apply for medical assistance only a year after Parkinson’s disease symptoms appear.
